Covid Restrictions:

We may still still be implementing COVID mitigation protocols at the YDS Edinburgh event.

We will update protocols as Scottish government guidelines change and we're hopeful that not all the protocol in place at our August 2021 event will be necessary, although it's likely that lateral flow testing will still be in place for the YDS Edinburgh event.

The mitigation measures in place may include:

Mandatory wearing of a face-covering whilst not fencing (unless exempt)
Field of Play restrictions
No coaching/spectators piste side during poules.
Restrictions in relation to coaches/spectators. There will be limited spaces for spectators to have a direct view of the event. Only one person will be allowed to support the fencer piste side at any one time during direct elimination (DE). This can be a guardian, parent or coach.
No shouting
No Handshaking/elbow touching - replaced with salutes on the on guard line.
Hand sanitisers will be present at entry/exit to venue, and on all pistes.
Antibacterial wipes will be present on all pistes to wipe equipment after use.
The event will be fully wireless to reduce contact points.
One way entry/exit will be in place.
Pre event Lateral Flow Tests. Test twice in the week before the event with one test within 48 hours of the event. Applies to all fencers/referees/volunteers/coaches/spectators (age 11+)
Pre event Covid Declaration form: Applies to all fencers/referees/volunteers/coaches/spectators.
