Safe Recruitment
Committees are responsible for the safe recruitment of people into regulated roles. Committees are also responsible for monitoring volunteers’ performance, reporting low level concerns and if harm is done - Making a Referral.
Committee training
Welfare should be at the centre of every decision a club committee makes. To help raise awareness for board and committee members there is now specific training for committees to support them in how to protect the wellbeing of children and young people in sport. This short on-line course informs learners of the theory, knowledge and practice which underpins child wellbeing and protection in sport.
This e-Learning is suitable for anyone (+16 years) involved in a club or sports organisation as a board or committee member.

Club Annual General Meetings (AGMs)
Club annual meetings are a good opportunity to explain to members the actions your club takes to protect it’s members, both junior and senior. It is a way to highlight the policies and procedures the club has in place and the club’s ethos and community spirit. It can introduce members to the Welfare Officer (and give them their contact details) and to remind club members of all the key people in the club who have an active role in keeping members safe and included.
Safeguarding and Welfare should be a regular committee discussion and ideally the Chair or Welfare Officer should provide a safeguarding report to members at the AGM.
