Vacancy Team Manager (Voluntary) to cover maternity leave

The Senior 5 Nations and the UK School Games are two representative team highlights in the Scottish Fencing (SF) events calendar. Both competitions are supported by a small team of volunteers, one of whom is the Team Manager. Scottish Fencing’s current Team Manager (TM) is on maternity leave and SF wish to recruit to cover this position.

We are recruiting specifically a replacement to cover the 2017 UK School Games and possibly the Senior 5 Nations later in the year. Applicants will need to be available to attend the UK School Games orientation on the 17 July and attend the games which run from the 31 August to 3 September. Both these events are at Loughborough University.

The main duties of the TM include assisting SF plan and finalise arrangements and to ensure the welfare of all team members during the event. We need someone who can disseminate information to team members, answer queries from participants, parents and coaches; ensure paperwork is completed timeously as well as travelling with the team and creating a professional and responsible squad environment which allows athletes to perform to the best of their abilities.

Essential to the role is experience of coaching or competing at national representation events. You will also need a current safeguarding certificate and a Disclosure Certificate (PVG) gained through Scottish Fencing.  This is a volunteer post although Scottish Fencing will reimburse expenses including mileage in line with our expenses policy.
