    • Epee teams would now need to arrive by 0830hrs on Saturday.
    • Sabre teams would now need to arrive by 1030hrs on Saturday morning
    • Foil Teams would now need to arrive by 1330hrs on the Saturday afternoon.

  • The 2017 Leon Paul Junior Series Scotland was held over the weekend of 3rd/4th June at Linlithgow Academy.

    Fencers attended from Blessington (in Ireland); Jersey; London; Plymouth; some of our regular competitors from Newcastle and Manchester; and across Scotland including Shetland.

  • Mike McKay finishes 8th! Great Britain won 2 gold, 4 silver and 10 bronze medals at the 2017 European Veteran Fencing Championships - a very successful event! 

    The Championships (individual) are held every 2 years and this year the lovely Italian town of Chiavari near Genoa was the host. This is an open event and there were over 1470 fencers across all 6 weapons in all age groups.

  • Refereeing in fencing, particularly for foil and sabre, is a skill which comes from a lot of practice and building on experience. Referees can improve their skills from constructive feedback of their performance and from observing current practice.

    The ideal way to improve refereeing skills is not in a classroom setting but in competitions supported by a mentor who has gone through the process of seeking feedback and learning from experience.

  • England 1, Scotland 2, Ireland 3, Wales 4 - Scotland won gold in Womens Foil.

    This year Ireland were the hosts and the event was held in Dalkey, south of Dublin with the Saturday night gala dinner being held in the Royal St George Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire.

    For the first time the event was being held over one day. The men’s foil, Women’s epee and the men’s sabre were in the morning with the remaining weapons in the afternoon.

  • In light of the recent report into historical abuse in Scottish football, sportScotland has updated their advice on good governance in respect of PVG checks.

    As a result Scottish Fencing would ask all members who are coaching or volunteering at their clubs to PVG through Scottish Fencing, even if they are already part of a scheme through an alternative source.
