  • Scottish Fencing are sorry to announce the loss of another hard working volunteer. Dr David Mends first joined SAFU as secretary in 1981. Checking through some issues of the Point he was still involved in the administration of the sport in 1996!  

    As well as supporting the various committees of SAFU Dr Mends was a successful competitive fencer. He was Scottish Foil Champion in 1951 and 1952. In the following year, 1953, he went on to win the Scottish Men’s Epee trophy...

  • Three Director Vacancies

    As our President Chris Hyde, has come to the end of his cycle on the Board, he is standing down and we wish to elect a new President.  Chris had led the organisation very successfully across his two terms, rebrandiing it, building the staffing and funding of the organisation, staging successful Commonwealth Championships and constantly improving the quality of the Scottish Open.
