2017 Veterans 4 Nations

England 1, Scotland 2, Ireland 3, Wales 4 - Scotland won gold in Womens Foil.

This year Ireland were the hosts and the event was held in Dalkey, south of Dublin with the Saturday night gala dinner being held in the Royal St George Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire.

For the first time the event was being held over one day. The men’s foil, Women’s epee and the men’s sabre were in the morning with the remaining weapons in the afternoon.

Scottish success at the British Veteran's Champs

Congratulations to all the Scots who took part in the British Veterans Championships in Manchester on the 4th and 5th of March.

Selection for 2017 Veterans 4 Nations Match

This year’s Veterans 4 Nation match will be held in Ireland on Saturday 6th May near Dublin with all events being held on one day.  Due to the increased cost of booking travel and the availability of hotels, the selection date for the Scottish Veterans for this event will be Monday 13th February.  Rankings will be based on those at the end of January plus any adjustment for competitions between then and the 13th, e.g. the MOFT.

2017 Veterans 4 Nations Match

This year's Veterans 4 Nations match will be organised by the Irish Fencing federation.  It will be held in Daley (on the coast near Dublin) with all matches held on Saturday 6th May.

There will be a Gala Dinner in evening at the Royal St George Yacht Club.

Veterans Winton Cup 2016 - Results

The Veterans' Winton Cup is an annual team event, with teams representing various regions around Britain.  Scotland has never managed to provide a team but was invited to join the North Britain team a few years ago.  

After several years of receiving the "wooden spoon", this year North Britain achieved an excellent 3rd place (even with an incomplete team).  

Veterans Celtic Challenge 2016 - Results

The 2016 Celtic Challenge was held in Dublin over the weekend of 23rd/24th July at DCU hosted by Ireland Fencing.  Veteran fencers from various Celtic nations took part in competitions over both days with their individual results being accumulated to decide the overall result for the Dragon Trophy.

After two busy days of competition (within an excellent Gala Diner on the Saturday evening), Wales returned home as the overall winners.

Important - Flying to Dublin as part of the Veteran's Celtic Challenge? Check your flight operator to ensure they will take your fencing bag. Some flights now refuse to take fencing bags, some will only take them if bags are locked. Contact scottish.fencing.veterans@gmail.com for updates.

 

The Veteran's Celtic Challenge 2016 will be held on the weekend of 23rd/24th July at Dublin City University and hosted by Fencing Ireland.

Veterans Home International 2016 - Results

The Scottish Veterans were fencing last weekend (9th/10th April) in Durham at the Four nations event. This was fought over two days and there were some really tough and close matches.

On the Saturday the men and women Foilists both fenced brilliantly to win all their matches and get the gold medals. The ladies and men's Sabre teams both won and lost matches to get third place and bronze medals.
