School Teams - Revised Timetable no fencing on Sunday!

Revised check-in times as follows:

  • Epee teams would now need to arrive by 0830hrs on Saturday.
  • Sabre teams would now need to arrive by 1030hrs on Saturday morning
  • Foil Teams would now need to arrive by 1330hrs on the Saturday afternoon.

Timetable would look like this;

UK School Games - Team Selection finalised

Congratulations to the following fencers selected for the UK School Games.

This is the make up of the final team. Please note that all fences including non-travelling reserves need to complete the on-line registration for the UK School Games organisers. Only six fencers have done this so far; coaches/parents please chase your fencer - this is URGENT.

SFA - Coach Education at the 2017 Summer Camp

Calling all L2, L3 and L4 coaches!

Come and gain Scottish Fencing Coach Education qualifications whilst working alongside international and national coaches at the 2017 SFA Summer camp.  This is a great opportunity for experienced and newly qualified coaches to either expand their current knowledge or work towards a more advanced qualification.

International coaches at the camp are Serena Pivotti, Italian Foil Maestra and Peter Frohlich, top Hungarian Sabre Coach.

The camp runs from the evening of the 16 July through to lunchtime on the 21 July at the newly refurbished National Sports Training Centre in Largs.

Eligibility

The competition is open to those with a current competitive membership of Scottish Fencing.

Under 13 – fencers aged under 13 on 01/01/17 (born 2004 or 2005)

Under 15 – fencers aged under 15 on 01/01/17 (born 2002 or 2003)

Under 17 – fencers aged under 17 on 01/01/17 (born 2000 or 2001)

Under 20 - fencers aged under 20 on 01/01/17 (born 1999, 1998 or 1997)

 

Scottish Fencing Coach Development Course - Coach Educator/Course leader

Training on how to be a Coach Educator

This course is essential for any coach who wants to be involved in delivering the Scottish Fencing Coach Education Programme. The course is free of charge to anyone who is a member of Scottish Fencing and has an L3 qualification or above or is currently working towards there L3 qualification.

This course is aligned to the new British Fencing Coaching Development Framework and will consist of six modules:

2017 Veterans 4 Nations

England 1, Scotland 2, Ireland 3, Wales 4 - Scotland won gold in Womens Foil.

This year Ireland were the hosts and the event was held in Dalkey, south of Dublin with the Saturday night gala dinner being held in the Royal St George Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire.

For the first time the event was being held over one day. The men’s foil, Women’s epee and the men’s sabre were in the morning with the remaining weapons in the afternoon.

2018 Commonwealth Fencing Championships 2018 - Scotland Team Selection Criteria

The 2018 Commonwealth Federation Fencing Championships will take place in Canberra, Australia from 10 – 15 November 2018.

Scottish Fencing aims to select up to five fencers at each weapon.

Selection will be informed by GB rankings as at 1st July 2018.

To be eligible for selection for the Team a fencer must;

  • Be a member of Scottish Fencing
  • Be eligible to represent Scotland as described in the Scottish Fencing Eligibility Criteria

2018 Commonwealth Junior & Cadet Fencing Championships  - Scotland Team Selection Criteria

The 2018 Junior and Cadet Commonwealth Fencing Championships will take place in July 2018 - final dates and venue are not confirmed yet.

Scottish Fencing aim to select up to five fencers at each weapon.

Selection will be based on the GB Junior and Cadet rankings as at 1st April 2018 (the end of 2017/18 season).

To be eligible for selection for the Team a fencer must;
