After service to Scottish Fencing of more years than even he can remember (but at least 16), Paul Neil-MacLachlan has decided it’s time to retire from his position as Scottish Fencing’s Coach Education Manager. Paul played a key role in developing and delivering coach education in Scotland, including the highly successful Hungarian collaboration which trained many of our current senior coaches.
A few words from Scottish Fencing’s Performance Manager Don McKenzie to aspiring Youth Fencers…
Hi Scottish Youth Fencer, Coach or Parent!
The start of the 2016-2017 season is upon us and Scottish Fencing is consolidating the ‘season’ established for under-13s and under-15s last year. Although Fencers are free to pick and choose from the events available, to get the most benefit we hope that you will engage fully with Scottish Fencing’s comprehensive programme of competition and training as follows:
It is with much sadness that Scottish Fencing reports the passing of Jean MacLardy. Jean began fencing at a house wives group in 1971. From this beginner’s introductory class she went onto pass her SAFU and BAF coaching exams. She coached many youngsters in her time starting some international fencers on their paths to success. She ran fencing clubs at St Margarets School and Scotus Academy to name just two. As well as coaching she was an active committee member standing on the Scottish Schools Committee.
Ready Steady Fence courses are designed to guide you through the essentials for coaching plastic fencing skills. We provide simple session plans. Once you become more confident you can then mix and match these to keep things fresh and fun.
