Venue update!

Saturday venue - Salle Ossian Fencing Club, Unit 4, Riverview Business Park, PH2 8DF

Sunday venue - Strathallan School, Forgandenny, Perth, PH2 9EG

The Coach Development Programme weekend is 19 and 20 January.  Coaches who are doing the coach development programme will have to attend both days.  Day 1 is at Salle Ossian and day 2 is at Strathallan School.  Both days are 10-4pm.  Cost is £40 for the weekend.

Please book by the closing date which is the Friday before the start date of the course. We can only refund candidates who cancel before the closing date.

Below is a guide as to who should apply for each course. If you need more information to decide which of these courses meets your needs or which qualifications you can work towards please contact Phil Carson, coach education manager, or check out the Scottish Fencing coaches forum on Facebook.

Level One - Coaching the fundamentals - Community Coach

Suitable for club leaders and non-fencers wishing to teach plastic fencing. 

Level Two - Coaching Fencing - Development Coach

You should meet one of the following criteria:

  • have completed Level One and any Action Plan given to you by the tutors, 
  • already hold a coaching qualification, or
  • have coaching experience and understand the principles of how to coach

Level Three - Club and Competition Coach - Performance Coach

To work towards a Level 3 qualification you must hold a Scottish Fencing Level 2 qualification for the same weapon.

Duration: as a rough guide this is can be completed in three weekends. 

Cost of Level 1 certificate is £60; L2 is £120 and L3 is £180.
